HOBSON PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN
Hobson Preschool, Kindergarten and Mother's Day Out is a nonprofit organization established by First Presbyterian Church in 1950 and is an integral part of the Church's ministry. The church's commitment to the program is based on the understanding that young children deserve a quality, affordable preschool education within a loving, Christian environment.
HOBSON MISSION STATEMENT
Hobson’s commitment is to create a learning environment that promotes critical thinking skills and to develop a positive attitude toward life long education. This includes the power to think constructively and independently. Welcoming the students and their families into a loving Christian environment.
PHILOSOPHY
Hobson’s purpose is to provide children the highest quality of education by providing age appropriate learning through exploring and discovery. Our goal is to give each child an opportunity to grow according to God’s plan, at his own pace with a feeling of “joy for life” and a knowledge that God loves them. We recognize that each child has a rate and pattern of growth unique to themselves. It is Hobson’s intention that all students find the faith to hope, the courage to dream, and the tools to make those dreams real.
SPIRTIUAL DEVELOPMENT
Daily prayer and the use of God’s word are implemented in a spontaneous and natural manner during this critical developmental stage, nurturing their Christian foundations.
Weekly chapel services are held for our older children in the church’s main Sanctuary. These are usually led by a member of the pastoral staff and may include bible stories, prayer time, and singing. They offer reinforcement for the Christian atmosphere the children find in their own homes and churches. The chapel moments afford spiritual inspiration and renewal for the teachers as well as the little ones.
Birthdays are celebrated with an emphasis on rejoicing and thanking God for each child on their special day. Their growth is likened to that of Jesus, who grew “in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.”
Special family worship services are planned for the older children during the school year.
SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
We care about your child’s social growth. We want them to be confident get along with other children and grown-ups, and be able to communicate ideas and feelings.
EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Your children’s emotional growth is necessary to succeed and build confidence in themselves. Growing and developing at their own rate will make school a happy, and pleasant experience for them. We guide them in understanding their feelings and behaviors and learning to mange them.
